I’ve made it easy for you! I’ve got free printables for decorating your gift box, and for those of you who want to go all in on the festive fun, there’s a Christmas Lunch Kit in the shop that includes napkin rings, cutlery holders, menu, invitation and a gift box design that all work together. It’s a wonderful way to add a personal touch to your holidays this year.
Step 1: Find Your Box or Bag
Before you start crafting, the first step is to find the perfect box or bag to hold your goodies. You can use a simple kraft box, a decorative tin, or even a reusable gift bag! I’ve found some great options that work well for this project, and I’m sharing a few links and examples below to help you get started.
- The box I’m using for this project was found here
- I have also used kraft paper bags like these which are more affordable when you need to use a lot.
- These ones a little smaller so great if you don’t want to make too much.
Once you’ve got your container, you’re ready to start decorating!
Step 2: Print & Prep Your Decorations
First, download and print the free printables designed just for this project. The printables include a cute Christmas tree cutouts and festive patterns that will make your gift box pop. I printed the trees onto a cardboard just to make it easier to work with.
Once you’ve printed them:
- Cut out the trees carefully.
- Tear bits of the patterned and coloured paper, this will go behind your tree cutout. This will give your gift box a rustic, homemade feel.
Step 3: Assemble Your Gift Box
Now that you have your decorations ready, it’s time to bring your box to life!
- Start by layering the torn patterned and coloured paper on the box. You can arrange them in any way you like, but make sure you leave some space for the Christmas tree cutout to shine!
- Next, place the Christmas tree cutout on top of the layered paper and secure it in place with a glue gun or double sided tape.
Step 4: Embellish for Extra Sparkle
If you want to take your gift box to the next level, I recommend adding some embellishments. I personally love using pearl stickers to decorate the tree. It adds a touch of elegance and gives the box a bit of festive sparkle! This will also suit my theme this year.
Feel free to get creative here, whether it’s with glitter, ribbons, or other decorative elements, this is your chance to make the box uniquely yours.
Step 5: Fill with Delicious Homemade Goodies
Now for the best part—filling your beautiful box with homemade treats! Whether it’s cookies, rocky road or slices this is where your personal touch really shines. If you need inspiration, I’ve got plenty of recipes for homemade treats in my Recipe Book. No matter what you choose, the combination of homemade goodies and a beautifully crafted box will make your gift one to remember!
