Christmas Tablescape
I love doing the Christmas tablescape. The colours I choose for the Christmas tablescape will usually be the same as the Christmas tree. This year the colour accent was black with gold and white.
Now my hubby does not like a lot of really high stuff on the table as he likes to see the people he’s talking to. If I do put on anything too high he takes it off!!!! So I have learnt over the years to work with that and keep things below eye level 🤣
Starting the tablescape
As usual the Christmas tablescape started with a white tablecloth. I love using a white tablecloth because everything you place on it stands out better. It also means that I don’t have to invest money in a lot of different tablecloths.
Choosing the table decorations
Choosing the items for the table was a little difficult because black was not really around in Christmas items this year. I decided the only thing to do was to grab what I liked and paint them black. The tall Christmas trees came from Kmart and the nutcrackers are candles from TKmaxx. I knew I would never burn the candles so I cut the wicks off and then painted everything black. I also found small black reindeers from Kmart so they didn’t need to be painted.
Next I added two garlands. One came from Kmart and the other one I found at the Christmas Cart. I try to chose items that are inexpensive because for Christmas I have to decorate two tables to accomodate our guests.
The items I painted black were added next along with six gold candle holders that I’ve had for a few years. I add battery operated tealights from Kmart.
The Place Settings
The gold chargers were found at Kmart for only $1.50 each. The chargers are only plastic but I think they look great. It also means that next year if I want a different colour it will be easy to repaint them.
Cloth charcoal serviettes were found at Kmart for a bargain price of $2.00 for 2. The patterned china plates were found at TKMaxx. I didn’t want to get anything that was Christmas themed because it would limit their use to once a year and I couldn’t justify that expense.
I found some wine glasses that I thought would suit the table at Kmart and I couldn’t be happier with how they look. The Christmas table would not be complete without bon bons and I found some nice gold and white ones from TK Maxx. I also added gold cutlery. This cutlery is beautiful and very special to me. My mum gave it to me many years ago and I treasure it ❤️ – I still like to use it though. I think it’s a real shame to have beautiful things that you don’t use.
Adding the gifts
The last items I add to the table are the gift items. In this case its the gift bags that I made which will be filled with yummy goodies. I also made small candles in shot glasses for each guest.
I’m really happy with the way the tablescape came out. I like that all but the centre decorative items are reusable for other tablescapes, even the garlands. It can get expensive doing the tablescapes at Christmas. Especially as I normally have to do it for two tables. I really try to get multiple uses from the things that I buy. I think my guests will like how it’s turned out this year 🤞. If you would like to add goodie bags to your table have a look at my Cookbook so you can fill them with deliciousness.
