Chocolate Balls Recipe
Chocolate balls at Christmas time are an absolute must in the Kelly household. I have been making the same recipe for too many years to count. They are utterly delicious and definitely easy Christmas baking. The recipe uses only 5 ingredients and one bowl. I love adding chocolate balls as part of my baked goods for Christmas because you can freeze them. This means that I can make them very early in the holiday season 👏👏. If you have a lot of cooking to do anything you can do ahead of time is definitely a game changer.
Chocolate balls recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk coffee biscuits any plain sweet biscuits will work eg. Milk Arrowroot, Digestives or Graham Crackers
- 1 cup desiccated coconut
- 2 tbsp cocoa
- 1 tin condensed milk
- 3/4 cup milk choc bits for a simple variation you can add white choc bits or a mix of milk dark and white
- extra coconut for rolling balls into
Instructions
- Crush biscuits by either putting in a food processor or by putting the biscuits in a ziploc bag and rolling over it with a rolling pin. It doesn't matter if you process fine or have a few chunky bits of biscuit, its all good.
- Add all ingredients into a bowl and mix together well.
- Roll into balls and then in to the coconut. You can make whatever size you like. I prefer using about a tablespoon of mixture per ball.
- You can eat immediately, keep in the refrigerator for at least a week or do as I do and freeze until required.
I also love using this basic recipe to to try different variations. I have included several of these in my Recipes for Gifting Cookbook which you will find here. The variations included in the book are:
- Hazelnut Balls
- Mint Slice Balls
- Turkish Delight Balls
- Clinkers Marshmallow Balls
- Caramilk Biscoff Balls
The cookbook also includes other recipes I like to include in my use for food gifts including rocky road, slices, and biscuits (cookies).
Chocolate balls truly are a staple part of my food gifts especially for holidays. As part of the Christmas season I also get into crafting mode to make a gift bag that I then load up with home baked goodies. Here’s the link for an easy way I do this.
