Christmas Table Setting Made Easy: A Beautiful Table Without the Stress

Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year to gather people around the table.

I love the decorating, the food, the little details and, most of all, having family and friends together. But I also know that creating a beautiful Christmas table can become just one more thing on an already very long Christmas to-do list.

You might have an idea of how you’d like your table to look, but then comes finding the right decorations, making sure everything works together, ordering pieces from different places and working out how to actually put it all together when it arrives.

And that’s before you’ve even started thinking about what you’re going to serve!

That is exactly the kind of overwhelm Em and I want to take away with The Joyful Celebration Studio.

Our Christmas Celebration Box has been created to give you the pieces you need to put together a beautiful, welcoming Christmas table at home — without having to spend hours sourcing everything yourself.

The Inspiration Behind Our Christmas Table

For this Christmas table, we wanted to create something warm, welcoming and a little nostalgic, with a relaxed elegance that feels special without being overly formal.

Rather than using traditional Christmas red and green, we chose a beautiful combination of rich burgundy and warm brown tones, complemented by the natural greenery of the garland. Little green houses, decorative Christmas trees and baubles add height and texture, while soft ribbons, oversized bows and gold accents bring everything together.

The result is a Christmas table that feels festive and inviting, with just the right balance of rustic charm and understated elegance. It’s the sort of table we love — beautiful enough to make Christmas feel like an occasion, but relaxed enough for everyone to sit around, share a meal and linger long after the plates have been cleared.

And importantly, it’s a Christmas table setting you can recreate in your own home.

What’s Included in the Christmas Celebration Box?

We’ve done the sourcing and coordinating for you, bringing together all the decorative pieces you need to create the Christmas table you see here.

The box is designed for a table of up to 10 guests and includes:

  • Two coordinating table runners to create the foundation for your table centrepiece.
  • Green Christmas garland to run through the centre of the table and add plenty of festive greenery.
  • Two gold candle holders, complete with brown ribbons, to add a little height and warm candlelight to the table.
  • A three-tier decorative tray for serving chocolates, sweet treats or other little Christmas goodies.
  • Green decorative houses with tealights included, so you can light them up and add a lovely glow to the table.
  • Christmas trees and baubles to layer amongst the greenery, adding height, texture and interest to the centrepiece.
  • One large brown bow for attaching to the three tiered tray or used any way you like.
  • 12 Christmas bunting cards with small pegs and ribbon. You can hang the bunting as one long piece or separate it into smaller sections as I have done in our styling.
  • 10 individual goodie boxes decorated with burgundy bows. Fill these with chocolates, homemade treats or another little surprise for your guests to take home.
  • 10 fabric napkins with coordinating napkin rings to finish each place setting.
  • 10 paper placemats to help bring the whole Christmas table setting together.
  • 10 Scratch off cards

Everything has been chosen to coordinate, so you’re not trying to match shades, work out how many decorations you need or visit multiple shops looking for pieces that will work together.

You simply add a few table basics of your own, follow our styling as closely or as loosely as you like, and make it yours.

Helping With More Than Just the Table

Of course, decorating the table is only one part of hosting Christmas.

One of the biggest causes of Christmas overwhelm can simply be the number of decisions there are to make. What are we eating? What can I make ahead? What gifts do I still need? How are we going to keep everyone entertained? And what have I forgotten?

So we’ve included a few extra resources to help with those decisions too.

Your Christmas Celebration Box includes a link to our comprehensive Christmas Planning Guide, designed to help you get all those Christmas lists, ideas and plans out of your head and into one organised place.

You’ll also receive links to our two digital cookbooks, A Joyful Table and A Joyful Gift.

A Joyful Table is your very own roadmap to planning a delicious Christmas menu without the overwhelm. Divided into starters, mains, sides and desserts, with plenty of ideas for making the most of those wonderful Christmas leftovers, it takes the guesswork out of deciding what to serve. Simply choose one or two recipes from each section, depending on the size of your gathering, and your Christmas menu is sorted! Less time wondering what to cook and more time enjoying the celebrations with the people you love.

A Joyful Gift is filled with ideas for homemade treats that are perfect for gifting — or perhaps for filling those little goodie boxes at each place setting or the tiered tray in the centre of the table.

And because Christmas is about having fun together, we’ve also included access to our Christmas Left Right Game, along with a few other festive activities to help bring everyone together and add a little laughter to your celebrations.

After all, some of the best Christmas memories are made around the table, sharing stories, playing games and enjoying time with the people we love.

We want to take away as much of that decision fatigue as possible — from what to serve and how to decorate, to finding simple ways to entertain your guests.

Because the less time you spend worrying about all the little details, the more time you have to enjoy the celebration yourself.

What You’ll Need to Complete Your Christmas Table

We’ve deliberately designed the box to work with the basics you probably already have at home. You don’t need to buy a new dinner setting or completely change your Christmas style to make it work.

You’ll just need to provide:

  • A tablecloth. I’ve used white because I love the fresh backdrop it gives the greens, burgundy and brown tones, but green or brown would also look beautiful. Or simply use your favourite Christmas tablecloth.
  • Your crockery, cutlery and glassware. Use what you already own — there’s absolutely no need to buy anything new! And if you don’t have enough matching pieces for everyone, don’t be afraid to mix and match. Combining different plates, glasses or even vintage pieces can add personality and charm to your table. Sometimes the most beautiful table settings are the ones that aren’t perfectly matched!
  • Two candles for the gold candle holders. We recommend using battery-operated candles wherever possible, particularly if children will be joining your celebrations. They create the same lovely warm glow without the worry of an open flame near your Christmas decorations. If you choose to use real candles, always keep them well away from the garland, ribbons and other decorations, and never leave them burning unattended.
  • Christmas crackers for each guest.
  • A few goodies for the individual boxes. Fill these with chocolates, lollies or some delicious homemade Christmas treats. If you need a little inspiration, our A Joyful Gift cookbook is full of easy recipes perfect for gifting. Rocky road and chocolate balls are always winners in our house, and they’re ideal because you can make them well ahead of time. Just pop a few into each box for a thoughtful little gift your guests can take home and enjoy!
  • Prizes for the winner of the scratch off game and the left right game included in your box.

Then it’s simply a matter of putting everything together.

We’ve already done the searching, matching and coordinating for you, but there’s still plenty of room to add your own pieces and make the table feel like your Christmas.

Designed to Work With What You Already Own

For our table, I’ve used my own white crockery and everyday pieces alongside the contents of the box.

You don’t need to go out and buy an entirely new dinner setting or matching glassware just because it’s Christmas.

In fact, I think using pieces you already own helps make a table feel much more personal.

White plates work beautifully, but so would cream, vintage china or a simple everyday dinner set. You can add your own favourite serving pieces or treasured Christmas decorations too.

The box does the hard work of creating a cohesive look; your own pieces are what make it feel like your Christmas.

What Isn’t Included?

You’ll notice quite a few other Christmas decorations in our photos and video, including our Christmas tree and decorations around the room.

These are there to create the setting for our Christmas celebration, but they aren’t included in the box.

The Christmas Celebration Box is specifically designed around decorating your Christmas table, with the addition of the coordinating bunting.

There’s absolutely no need to change how you decorate the rest of your home. Put up your Christmas tree, bring out your favourite decorations and enjoy all the traditions that make Christmas special to you. Our box simply takes care of creating a beautiful, coordinated Christmas table that will sit comfortably alongside your own festive style.

A Christmas Table Without the Last-Minute Scramble

One of the reasons we created The Joyful Celebration Studio was because we know how quickly hosting can become overwhelming.

It’s rarely one enormous job that causes the stress. It’s the dozens of little decisions.

What colour should I use?
What should go down the middle of the table?
Where do I find everything?
Will these pieces work together?
What are we going to eat?
What can I prepare ahead?
How am I actually going to arrange it all?

By bringing so much of that together for you, we’re hoping to remove a lot of those decisions.

Instead of spending weekends visiting different shops or opening twelve browser tabs trying to create a particular look, you can open your box and know that the pieces have already been chosen to work together.

And when it’s time to start thinking about the food and all the other Christmas preparations, you’ll have the Planning Guide and cookbooks there to help with those decisions too.

We’ll Show You How to Put It Together

We also don’t want to send you a box full of lovely things and then leave you wondering what to do with them!

We’ll show you how we’ve styled the table so you can recreate the look at home.

You can follow our table closely or use it simply as inspiration and change things around to suit your own table, your home and the number of people you’re hosting.

Because creating a beautiful table shouldn’t require professional styling skills.

Sometimes you just need someone to give you a starting point.

More Time for the Part of Christmas That Matters

As much as I adore a beautifully decorated Christmas table, the table isn’t really what Christmas is about.

It’s what happens around it.

It’s passing food back and forth, pulling crackers, laughing at those ridiculous jokes, catching up with people you haven’t seen enough during the year and lingering at the table long after everyone has finished eating.

That’s why Em and I created this Christmas Celebration Box.

We want you to enjoy making your home feel special for the people you love, but we don’t want you to feel exhausted before they even arrive.

If we can take away some of the shopping, planning, decision-making and uncertainty — and give you the confidence to create a beautiful Christmas table yourself — then we’ve done exactly what we set out to do with The Joyful Celebration Studio.

Because the prettiest part of any Christmas table will always be the people gathered around it.
