One of my favourite things in the kitchen is findi One of my favourite things in the kitchen is finding new ways to use leftovers.

After serving Mini Meatball Subs at Emily’s baby shower, we had plenty of meatballs left over. Rather than letting them go to waste I froze them for later. Enter this delicious Meatball Lasagne!!!

Layered with a creamy ricotta mixture, fresh basil and lasagne sheets, it’s the perfect example of how leftovers can become something completely different (and equally delicious!).

Good food is too precious to waste, and sometimes the best recipes start with what’s already in the fridge.

One of my favourite little corners of our home. 🌿 One of my favourite little corners of our home. 🌿

We call this our French Garden, and during winter it’s where you’ll almost always find us enjoying our morning cuppa. It’s bathed in beautiful sunshine and is the perfect place to start the day.

Adding the sage green shutters completely changed the feel of this space. They bring so much character and are still one of my favourite additions to our garden.

And can we also take a moment to appreciate the fact that I’ve actually managed to keep all of the potted plants not just alive... but thriving! 😂 I never thought I’d be so proud of a collection of pots!

It’s funny how the smallest spaces often become the ones we enjoy the most.

Do you have a favourite sunny spot at your home?

Thankful Thursday This week my heart is full of Thankful Thursday

This week my heart is full of gratitude for some of life’s simple moments.

1.	I’m grateful for our beautiful sunny spot in the garden where we enjoy our morning cuppa during winter.
2.	I’m grateful for the opportunity to create something alongside Emily. Building The Joyful Celebration Studio together has been such a special experience.
3.	I’m grateful for time spent catching up with Dad and Wendy before they head off on their next adventure.
4.	I’m grateful for the new tradition we’ve started called croissant Sunday. Tony found a great French Patisserie close to home so every Sunday morning we enjoy proper croissants and hot chocolates in our garden for breakfast.
5.	🤍 And of course, you knew this one was coming... our beautiful little Hazel. 💕 Becoming Gigi has been one of the greatest joys of my life. I will be forever grateful to Em and Mitch for making me a grandmother. I adore that sweet little girl more than words can say.

What are you grateful for this week?

Today I’m sharing something that has been quietly Today I’m sharing something that has been quietly growing behind the scenes for quite some time. ❤️
If you’ve been following A Joyful Ordinary Life for a while, you’ll know how much I love gathering people together.

The family dinners.
The Christmas tables.
The birthday celebrations.
The baby showers.
The celebrations shared with people we love.
Over the years, I’ve realised that while the decorations, food and styling are lovely, they’re never really the point.

The point is connection.
It’s creating moments where people feel welcomed, celebrated and remembered.

That’s why I’m so excited to introduce The Joyful Celebration Studio.
Created by my daughter Emily and I, The Joyful Celebration Studio was born from our shared love of meaningful celebrations and the belief that beautiful gatherings don’t need to be complicated or overwhelming.

Our goal is simple:
To help people create thoughtful, memorable celebrations with less stress and more joy.
This first collection has been inspired by one very special celebration in our own lives.

Thank you for being here, for supporting A Joyful Ordinary Life and for encouraging me as this new chapter unfolds.

I truly believe some of life’s most beautiful memories are made when we gather the people we love and make the ordinary feel special.

Head to the blog to read all about this next chapter.
The Joyful Celebration Studio is beginning to take shape! We’d love for you to head over, give us a follow, and come along for the journey as we prepare for our official launch.

I’d love to know—what celebration or family tradition holds a special place in your heart?

“The most beautiful chapter of life often begins w “The most beautiful chapter of life often begins when you stop trying to become someone else and simply become yourself.”

There is something incredibly freeing about reaching a stage in life where you care less about expectations and more about what truly matters. The older I get, the more I realise that joy isn’t found in having more, doing more or being more—it’s found in living in a way that feels authentic to you.

For me, that has meant slowing down, embracing simple pleasures, gathering loved ones around the table and creating a life that reflects my values rather than someone else’s idea of success.

If this resonates with you, I’ve shared more thoughts in my post, The Quiet Luxury of a Meaningful Life: Finding Joy in What Truly Matters. Head over to A Joyful Ordinary Life to read the full article.

Feeding a crowd doesn’t have to be complicated. W Feeding a crowd doesn’t have to be complicated.
Whether you’re hosting a baby shower, birthday, family gathering, or casual get-together, having a few reliable hot food recipes up your sleeve can make entertaining so much easier.

In my latest blog post, I’m sharing three of my favourite crowd-pleasing party foods:

✨ Ham and Cheese Sliders
✨ Mini Meatball Subs
✨ Mini Bacon and Onion Quiches

These are the recipes we served at Emily and Mitch’s Woodland Baby Shower, and they were some of the first dishes to disappear from the food table!

You’ll also find links to my new YouTube channel (link in bio), where I’m starting to share step-by-step recipe videos so you can follow along and see exactly how I make some of these family favourites.

🤎 Thankful Thursday is Back! 🤎 This week’s Thank 🤎 Thankful Thursday is Back! 🤎

This week’s Thankful Thursday might just be my favourite one ever.
Our beautiful little granddaughter, Hazel, arrived this week, and honestly, I’m struggling to think about anything else.

So this week, I’m grateful for:

1.	The wonderful doctors and nurses who helped bring our precious girl safely into the world. It was a difficult delivery, and we are so thankful for their care, skill, and support.
2. Our beautiful, strong daughter Emily. Watching her become a mother has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives, and we couldn’t be more proud of her.
3.	Our amazing son-in-law Mitch, who was by Emily’s side every step of the way and continues to support her with so much love and care. We are incredibly lucky to have him in our family.
4. My dad coming for a sleepover and getting to meet little Hazel. It was so special to capture a four-generation photo together. Of course, it also made me wish my mum was still here to meet her too.
5. Our sweet, beautiful, perfect little granddaughter Hazel. We already love her more than we ever thought possible.
6. And because one spot on the list simply isn’t enough... Hazel gets number six as well🤎
To all the grandparents who have spent years telling me there is nothing quite like becoming a grandparent—you were right. I finally understand. The love is instant, overwhelming, and more wonderful than I could ever have imagined.

What are you grateful for this week? 🤎

And if you’d like to read more about how gratitude has shaped my life and mindset over the years, I’ve shared more in my latest blog post. You’ll find the link in my bio. 🤎

When we started planning Em and Mitch’s baby showe When we started planning Em and Mitch’s baby shower, we knew we wanted it to feel relaxed, welcoming, and fun for everyone.
With around 70 guests attending, we embraced the growing trend of celebrating both parents-to-be and created a woodland-inspired gathering filled with good food, simple styling, and plenty of space for family and friends to connect.
From the woodland tablescapes and food table to the games, sweet treats, and photo wall, every detail was designed to create a celebration that felt special without becoming overwhelming.
I’ve shared all the details, photos, food ideas, and styling tips over on the blog.
