I’ve found this to be true time and time again. Gratitude doesn’t magically make life’s challenges disappear, but it does help us notice the good that exists alongside them.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the moments

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the moments that make a life feel rich and meaningful.
Not the big achievements or the things we buy.
The moments we remember are usually much simpler.
A birthday cake made for someone we love.
A table filled with family.
A Christmas lunch that stretches well into the afternoon.
A baby shower celebrating a new chapter.
A cup of tea shared with a friend.
When I look back over the years, those are the moments that stand out. The celebrations, the gatherings, the traditions and the connections we’ve built along the way.
It’s made me realise that creating these moments has quietly become one of the great joys of my life.
And perhaps that’s why this space is evolving in the direction it is.
A Joyful Ordinary Life will always be about home, recipes, simple living and creating a life well lived. But moving forward, you’ll see an even greater focus on gathering, celebrating and creating meaningful memories with the people we love.
In fact, that passion has recently grown into something new that I’m very excited to share with you soon. ❤️

Our 2025 Christmas Village is finally out of its boxes and taking shape.
Each year I add a little something new, a tiny detail that tells part of our family story.

This one is full of cosy corners, glowing windows… and a small tribute tucked in just for Em and Mitch 🤍

This outdoor patio renovation has taken a while —

This outdoor patio renovation has taken a while — but it’s finally starting to feel real!
And this is the first space to truly come together — the bar 🍸

We gave two vintage timber pieces a whole new life.
The large wall cabinet and the rolling bar were both painted black for a classic, moody feel.

The bar got a marble-look melamine top and heavy-duty castors so it can be moved wherever the party needs to be.
Inside the wall cabinet, we painted the glass sections white, added pressed-metal look detail to the open space, and finished it off with puck lighting on every shelf.

The rest of the patio is on pause for now — waiting on our electrician in the new year and a delayed pool table — but honestly… this little corner already feels pretty special.

I love this quote and in the spirit of it I will be unplugging for a few weeks to see if I will work again 🤪.

With the patio renovations taking a while I don’t feel I have anything interesting to share at the moment so its the perfect time for a break. Hopefully I will have a lot of progress to share with you when I come back.

Hope you’ve all had a wonderful week. This week I am grateful for:-

1. The help we received from family and friends to move the LARGE cabinet out to the patio.
2. Sharing some toasties for lunch with the Lockharts and my BIL.🥪
3. A visit from Emy and Mitch💕💕
4. A great and very helpful chat with @antheasonrosemary🤎🤎
5. A lovely long chat with my bestie🥰
